- Whenever I turn on my Amiga, it starts normally and displays the
- "Insert Workbench" screen where it shows a picture of a hand holding a
- disk. It then seems to access my FDD...but only once. If a disk is
- present in the drive at this time...the drive will spin for several
- seconds, then stop. If no disk is present, then the drive will
- "click" once then stop and putting a disk into the drive does
- absolutely nothing at this point. Also, there is no continuous
- clicking of the FDD that all A500 owners are familiar with when there
- isn't a disk in the drive. ALSO, sometimes, when I use the 3-key
- reset, the system will reboot, then display a Software Failure message
- on top of the screen in red letters w/ a red border. If I power off
- completely for several seconds, the error goes away, but I'm still
- stuck at the "Insert boot disk" screen.
-
- I don't think the problem is my FDD because even if I remove it, I
- still get the Software Failures.
-
- Any ideas on what is going wrong w/ my system? I REALLY would
- appreciate any comments because after having my A500 sit on a shelf
- for all these years, it sure would be great to be able to use all the
- great programs I had for it before.
